Your yoga practice connects you intimately with the nurturing source. The principles of personal practice that we will investigate will help you to make yoga entirely your own; efficient, powerful and safe.
Breath, asana and bandha integrate as a seamless design. You will learn how to apply breath and bandha efficiently to produce a powerful practice that is right for you. We will introduce breath and bandha as the central feature of your asana, adding these principles to the yoga practice you already know and love.
Classes will include the Yoga of Patanjali, an in depth study of the first four sutras of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra and the first sutra of chapter two: on the three qualities or actions of personal yoga practice.

Yoga is not a linear process. It is direct intimacy with life, and it is available to everyone. This weekend, Mark Whitwell offers yoga’s advanced practices in a way that you can integrate and make your own, whether you are just beginning to practice or have years of experience. The weekend involves an interwoven promise: You promise to practice yoga, and in return you receive the promise of yoga’s gifts, including health, intimacy, well-being, and joy. In order to experience these benefits, your yoga practice must be adapted to you, not you to yoga. With Mark’s skillful and heartfelt guidance, you will:
• Explore the five principles of advanced personal practice
• Dive into asana, pranayama, and meditation as a seamless process
• Discover how yoga transforms life into an intimate celebration with everything
• Experience the nurturing principle as a constant in your life from now on
• Return home with understanding and the embodied felt sense of your own joyful practice
This program is a regenerative and joyful event that will continue to reverberate through your daily life in very practical ways. For all levels; no prior yoga experience needed. Please bring a yoga mat.

Prana is the life-force energy pulsing through our bodies and all living things. It is a quality of energy that manifests in the breath, as well as blood and other fluids. Prana sustains the physiological processes of the body, which in turn support the mind, emotions, and spirit.
We can access and control the movement of Prana through awareness, Pranayama breathing techniques, meditation, and the movements of yoga, martial arts and dance. Sun and sunshine are also sources of Prana. Increased pranic activity and efficiency gives us more vitality.
Through kirtan, yoga, workshops, sacred ceremony, healing sessions and communal activation of our bodies, minds and spirits, we will awaken our Prana and learn to thrive at our fullest potential.
